Construction is moving forward on a large-scale international space station (ISS) positioned 400 kilometers above the Earth with the participation of 15 countries including Japan, the United States, Russia, and European countries. Kibo is Japan’s first manned space module that is attached to the space station. Up to four astronauts will be able to stay for long periods in the module. After being designed and assembled in Japan, the module was transported to NASA and sent into space aboard the space shuttle Endeavour. |
