Face authentication

This is a biometrics technology to identify individuals by analyzing and matching images of the human face. In addition to current uses in identification of mobile phone owners and under-aged people at cigarette and other vending machines, new uses are also being studied, such as in combination with security cameras. In November 2007 Sohgo Security Services succeeded in developing the world’s first security robot equipped with a face authentication function to detect and report specific individuals such as terrorists or people wanted by the police.
