Robot suits

These devices are attached to the human body to augment the movements of arm and leg muscles or enhance physical functions. Trial applications are being made in the fields of medical and nursing care for rehabilitation purposes or to assist people with walking impairments. In January 2008, the research group led by Professor Shigeki Toyama of the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology developed a wearable robot suit to alleviate the physical burden of farm work. Practical application of such suits is promising for agricultural work as the aging of the population becomes a more serious problem.
