| Abstract;When we use network based application programs, we often need to perform re-configuration of various parameters due to changing the network environment. That is the motivation of our design and prototyping of auto-configuration tools, which collect the necessary configuration information for those application programs from a directory server using LDAP convention, then setup it on the application programs suitably. In this paper, we examine some primitive issues on implementing the LDAP based auto configuration tools, and show solutions of the following issues: (1) how to maintain the various configurations in a directory, (2) how to change the configuration of individual application program. And we also presents how we designed and prototyped our tools. These tools make it possible for some popular network application programs to be available with easy setup operations. (author abst.) |
