Abstract; Two cholic acid 7,12-dimethyl ether derivatives were connected via bisurethane linkage at the 3-hydroxyl position to afford membrane-penetrating ion channel. It gave single ion channel currents of conductivity range 5-20pS with stable open states. The channel was cation selective, K+/Cl- selectivity being as large as 10. Furthermore, this channel discriminated K+ from Na+ by a factor of 3.5. (author abst.)
