Abstract;Reaction of .BETA.-styrylpentamethyldisilane(1a) with Ru3(CO)12 afforded .BETA.-styryltrimethylsilane(2a) with elimination of a dimethylsilylene unit, while under similar conditions .ALPHA.-isomer(1b) was reacted with Ru3(CH)12 together with 1a instead of .ALPHA.-isomer 2b. Under similar conditions their hydrogen analogs, .BETA.- and .ALPHA.-styryldimethytlsilanes(3a and 3b) both gave styrene with elimination of the dimethylsilylene unit. On the other hand, in the presence of methanol 1a gave .BETA.-styryldimethylmethoxysilane(4a), while 1b gave 4b together with its .ALPHA.-isomer 4a. (author abst.)
