Abstract;A series of poly[(tetrabutyldisilanylene)oligo(2,5-thienylenes)n](1-5) with n=3-7 were synthesized. The NiCl2(dppe)-catalyzed cross-coupling reaction of the di-Grignard reagents of 1,2-bis(5-bromothien-2-yl)tetrabutyldisilane with 2,5-dibromothiophene, 2,5'-dibromobithiophene and 2,5"-dibromoterthiophene afforded the corresponding polymers with n=3(Mw=21600, yield 55%), n=4(Mw=11000, yield 45.5%) and n=5(Mw=51000, yield 25%), respectively. The same cross-coupling reaction of 1,2-bis(5'-bromobithien-2yl) tetrabutyldisilane with 2,5'-dibromobithiophene and 2,5"-dibromoterthiophene yielded the copolymers 4 and 5 with n=6(Mw=20200, yield 49%) and n=7(Mw=11100, yield 43%), respectively. UV- and photoluminescence spectra were determined for polymers 1-5. (author abst.)
