Abstract;Chloro(aryloxy)bis(cyclopentadienyl)zirconium(3)/BuLi systems exhibit higher activity in dehydrocoupling of arylsilanes to give higher molecular weight poly(arylsilane)s than Cp2ZrCl2(4)/BuLi. Introduction of bulky substituents on the aryloxy ligand results in stereoselective polymerization reaction affording syndiotactic-rich polysilanes. The present catalyst system is also applicable to the synthesis of functionalized poly(arylsilane)s. (author abst.)
