Abstract;A remarkable substituent effect was observed on the selective formation of planar chiral (.ETA.3-allyl)dicarbonylnitrosyliron complexes by the reaction of optically active allyl tosylates with tetrabutylammonium tricarbonylnitrosylferrate(TBAFe). The complex forming reaction generally proceeds via SN2 mechanism; however, three-center cis oxidative addition predominates when the allyl tosylate has a bulky substituent. (.ETA.3-1-Azaallyl)dicarbonylnitrosyliron complexes have been prepared by the reaction of N-methoxy-2-bromoimines with TBAFe and were characterized with respect to their structure and reactivity.
