Abstract;TpiPrM-R, .ETA.1-benzyl-type(R=p-tolylmethyl, .ALPHA.-naphthylmethyl) and .ETA.1-ethyl complexes of Fe and Co supported by the hydrotris(3,5-diisopropylpyrazolyl)borate ligand (TpiPr), are synthesized and characterized by X-ray crystallography. These complexes are electron deficient species with 14 and 15 valence electrons and it is notable that no .BETA.-elimination is observed for the ethyl complexes. (author abst.)
