Abstract;Overcrowded diarylgermanones, a novel class of double-bond species between germanium and oxygen, were successfully generated by the following three different methods; i) the reaction of a kinetically stabilized diarylgermylene with an amine N-oxide, ii) oxygenation of a germylene with molecular oxygen, and iii) thermal retrocycloaddition of a sterically crowded oxazagermete derivative. Thermal stability and inter- and intramolecular reactivities of the germanones thus generated were also examined. (author abst.)
