Abstract;A method was developed which purifies only the pollutants contained in groundwater without disturbing the flow of the groundwater by installing a permeable purification wall mixed with a reactive material on the downstream side of the contaminated ground. In particular, with respect to volatile organochlorine compounds such as trichloroethylene, in-situ purification of contaminated groundwater is possible by using zerovalent metallic iron powder as a reactant. This paper reports the mechanism of this method and the results of column water-flow tests and demonstration tests.
