Abstract;Concomitant use of AA-2414 and mequitazine, an antihistamic agent, was examined for the efficacy and safety for treating patients with perennial allergic rhinitis. The total number of the subjects was 142, composing 46 for AA-2414 alone, 48 for mequitazine alone, and 48 for concomitant use of the two agents. Administration period was 2 weeks. 1) Improvement rate in nasal symptoms: "moderately improved" or better were 64.3% in the concomitant use group, 57.5% in the AA-2414 group, and 32.6% in the mequitazine group, showing no difference between the concomitant use group and the AA-2414 group; however, improvement in the concomitant use group was higher than that of the mequitazine group. 2) Improvement rate classified by symptoms: improvement rates in nasal obstruction were 47.6% in the concomitant use group, 45.0% in the AA-2414 group and 23.9% in the mequitazine group, showing no difference between the concomitant use group and the AA-2414 group; however, improvement in the concomitant use group was higher than that of the mequitazine group. Improvement rates in sneezing were 42.9% in the concomitant use group, 25.0% in the AA-2414 group and 23.9% in the mequitazine group, showing that improvement rate in the concomitant use group was higher than those of the other two groups. Improvement rates in nasal discharge were 54.8% in the concomitant use group, 45.0% in the AA-2414 group and 32.6% in the mequitazine group, showing no difference between the concomitant use group and the other two groups; however, the concomitant use group marked the highest rate....
