Abstract; Thanks to the development of CCD camera and digital technologies, photographic observations in astronomy has been getting less popular and hence facilities to analyze the photographic data such as micro-densitometers are disappearing. Instead, a film scanning device with a linear CCD array (a film scanner), which can be controlled by a personal computer, becomes available and much more popular for a personal use. Hence, it is worth while examining the digitization accuracy of the commercial-based film scanner and seeking the possibility to replace the micro-densitometer with it. We found that the film scanner gives good accuracy in comparison with the micro-densitometer if the data are handled properly. We describe the method and technique how to calibrate photographic data using the film scanner. (author abst.)
