Abstract;A large difference between industrial system products and consumer products exists in reliability to be required. This paper presents outlines of CompactPCIs and Hot Swap under a theme of improving reliability in industrial systems, and in addition, reducing maintenance hours ( down time of system ). Reliability and maintenance have become to able to be improved at comparatively low costs, since the Hot Swap functions are supported in CompactPCI. This paper describeds an outline of CompactPCI, and Hot Swap ( procedures of Hot Swap, hardware and software for Hot Swap, ) of CompactPCI.
