Abstract;Regarding improvement of reliability of field instrumentation by computer-base measurement and automation, this paper describes how Japan National Instrument Co. challenges, and what kind of approach it has. This paper describes the necessity of real time, roles of PC which depend on needs for intelligent I/O and real-time real-time control, and the future of real-time control and intelligent I/O.
