Abstract;Concerning purification of soil polluted by trichloroethylene (TCE) in Kimitsu City, Chiba Prefecture, demonstration experiment to confirm effectiveness of groundwater circulation system in situ bioremediation was conducted . Investigation on groundwater flow, geological feature and subsurface of the polluted field gas was made to present the situation of toxic area. Low-density TCE was rapidly decomposed by methanotroph separated from the pollution field, while high-density TCE could be decomposed by aromatic utilization fungus.
