| Abstract;8mg of CS-905 was given to the patients with essential hypertension undergoing the graded exercise tolerance test, and effects on hemodynamics and endocrine function were determined in a double blind crossover placebo controlled study. It was found that CS-905 significantly reduced blood pressure during the graded exercise tolerance test without affecting changing patterns due to exercise, and caused no tachycardia reflex to hypotension. No significant changes were found in cardiac output or total peripheral resistance at rest or during exercise. In the neurohumor factors, no significant changes were seen in plasma levels of norepinephrine, epinephrine or aldosterone. Plasma renin activity significantly changed; resulting in no clinically problematic significance. From these results, it is concluded that CS-905 is useful in reducing blood pressure at rest and during exercise without affecting on hemodynamics or sympathetic nerve system. (author abst.) |
