Abstract;Ecomaterial (Em) is the concept born in Japan "producing and using materials with less environmental loading and improving the utility in use while giving recycling capability". On Em, the following points are described: (1) directivity of conversion to Em, (2) hints on Em, and (3) future developments of ecolabel, green procurement, and ecodesign. On the point(1), it is explained that the approaches to Em are largely divided into three types, diffusion type material, mechanism type material and existence type material according the region where a material is used. On (2), examples in the following industrial fields are outlined :construction, architecture, container materials, cooking equipment, heat sources, air conditioners, home electric appliances, tire, transportation equipment, food can materials, electric and battery materials, coating materials, gas separation membrane, etc.
