| Abstract;Hazama Corp. found that the powder of polynorbornene rubber adsorbes PCB, exploring an efficient method for treating a large amount of wastewater containing PCB. This article introduces the practical application of this removal technique by adsorption. To begin with, on the solubility of PCB in water, the relation with soil elution is described. Then, problems on PCB in distillation treatment at construction site and coagulative precipitation of pumpage are described. Since the use of active carbon for adsorptive treatment is not practical in view of pollution of construction wastewater, the rubber system oil adsorbent, polynorbornene was chosen in the light of the compatibility of human body's organization and PCB. Change with time in PCB concentration on adding 1% polynorbornene is shown. |
