| Abstract;Kobe Steel,Ltd. developed the high-efficient biological deodorizing system for the purpose of the advanced removal of persistent malodorous substances merely by biological deodorization process. Main components of offensive odor emitted from sewage treatment plants are four types: hydrogen sulfides, methyl mercaptan, and others. They are oxidized by sulfur-oxidizing bacteria to sulfuric acid. On the title deodorizing system, the following points are explained: (1) flow of system, (2) carrier and microorganism immobilizing method, (3) demonstration operation data at a sewage-treatment plant, and (4) economical efficiency evaluation. On (2), the microorganism immobilization using porous carbon carrier and the combination method is described. On (4), it is explained that the use of this system can reduce maintenance cost. |
