Abstract;NKK Corp. has developed the system that recycles waste plastic as an iron making raw material by blowing them into the Kei-Hin Steel Works' No. 1 blast furnace after separating, crushing, and granulating them. This blast furnace produces 10000 tons of pig iron from about 4000 tons of coke, 1000 tons of dust coal and 16000 tons of iron ore. Waste solid plastic is crushed, and processed into a required grain size for blast furnace feed. Film system waste plastic is pelletized by melting. Blown into the blast furnace, waste plastic instantly becomes the reducing gas, which reduces, heats and dissolves iron ores. On PVC, there is a possibility of its chlorine to affect the corrosion of blast furnace facility, so PVC is not considered as the object of blast furnace recycling. At present, the isolation technique of PVC from other plastic and high-performance dechlorination technology from PVC are being developed as pretreatment processes for blast furnace feed.
