Abstract; We evaluated the clinical characteristics of four patients with advanced prostate cancer whoes serum PSA values were within the normal limits. Three of them had poorly differentiated adenocarcinomas and one had moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma. Endocrine therapies were not effective in two cases. Only two patients who underwent radical surgery followed by adjuvant chemotherapy with or without radiotherapy remain alive without disease. PSA secretions were considered to be absent in two cases and weak in one case, according to the results of PSA staining. In only one case, neuroendocrine differentiation seemed to be related to normal serum PSA. (author abst.)
