| Abstract;Three cases of metastatic renal tumor are reported. The first case comprised a 57-year-old man, who had undergone esophagectomy and esophago-gastroplasty for squamous cell carcinoma 3 months earlier. He was admitted after a CT scan revealed a tumor in the right kidney. He underwent right radical nephrectomy. A specimen from the right kidney demonstrated a metastatic renal tumor arising from a squamous cell carcinoma. He died 9 months after the nephrectomy. The second case of comprised a 61-year-old man, who had undergone right upper pneumonectomy for large-cell carcinoma of the bronchus. He began to suffer from macroscopic hematuria and right flank pain 7 months after the pneumonectomy. An abdominal CT showed a right renal tumor. Right radical nephrectomy was performed and pathological examination revealed metastatic large-cell carcinoma. He dropped out from follow-up one year after the nephrectomy. The third case comprised an 88-year-old man who was admitted to our hospital with the chief complaint of macroscopic hematuria. CT scan revealed an abnormal mass lesion in the left kidney, in the right lung and in the liver. Needle biopsy of the left renal mass and punch biopsy of the right bronchial mass were performed. Pathological examination of the kidney and the lung revealed squamous cell carcinoma of the bronchus. He did not undergo any surgical therapy. He died 10 months after the biopsy. 62 clinical cases of metastatic renal tumor reported in the Japanese literature, including these 3 cases, are reviewed. (author abst.) |
