| Abstract; We evaluated the clinical efficacy and safety of levofloxacin(LVFX) in 32 cases of complicated urinary tract infections(UTI). LVFX, at a daily dosage of 300mg or 600mg, was administered orally for 14 days. Clinical efficacy was evaluated based on the criteria established by the UTI committee in Japan. The results obtained were as follows: 1) The patients consisted of 18 males and 14 females. 2) The overall clinical efficacy rate was 75.0%. There was no difference between the 300mg group and the 600mg group. 3) As for the bacteriological response, the eradication rate was 84.6%. 4) We experienced no severe side effects nor abnormal laboratory findings. From these results, it was concluded that LVFX is both effective and safe for the treatment of complicated UTI. (author abst.) |
