Abstract; The patient was an 84-year-old man with the chief complaint of gross hematuria. Cystoscopy revealed a large intravesical mass, measuring 6.0*5.0cm, originating from the posterior wall. Radical cystectomy and ureterocutaneostomy were performed. Histologically, the bladder tumor was composed of sarcomatous tissue, osteochondrosarcoma and transitional cell carcinoma. Immunohistochemical examinations showed that the sarcomatous region was positive for vimentin, S-100, toluidine blue and collagen, but negative for keratin and EMA. We diagnosed the tumor as carcinosarcoma. Fifteen months after surgery, the patient remains healthy wihout any tumor recurrence. We review 40 cases of carcinosarcoma, sarcomatoid carcinoma and malignant mesodermal mixed tumor of the bladder, in addition to the present case. (author abst.)
