| Abstract; We treated 61 patients with testicular tumors at our hospital between 1982 and 1997. Malignant lymphoma of the testis accounted for 11.5% (7 cases) of the testicular tumors in our patients but for 58.3% of those in men older than 50 years (55-79 years old). Among these 7 patients, 5 had primary tumors, including 3 at stage IE and the other 2 had secondary tumors. Immunohistochemistry revealed that the primary tumors were B cell-derived and the secondary tumors were T cell-derived. Of the 3 stage IE cases, two underwent adjuvant chemotherapy, experiencing relapse 84 months and 89 months later. The patients died of lymphoma. Stage IE malignant lymphoma of the testis has a worse prognosis, and therefore adjuvant chemotherapy and long-term follow-up should be considered in these cases. (author abst.) |
