Abstract; With the renewal of emergency power generating installation, the titled universy adopted a cogeneration system by lean combustion gas engine. The conventional three 1,250kW emergency generators were replaced with one unit, and the deficit is covered by 3 units of 600kW cogeneration machines. The system supplies the commercial bus bar with power by system interconnection. In a power failure, load is cut off and an emergency generator is started and synchronized to cover disaster prevention load and life support systems in hospitals as 3,500kVA power generating installation. Waste heat is recovered and utilized for absorption-refrigerators and hot-water supply.
