| Abstract; The apparatus for measuring the meridians and their corresponding internal organs(AMI) is used to determine whether each meridian in the human body is "deficient" or "excessive" based on the before polarization(BP) value. We compared results of measurement using an AMI with diagnostic data obtained by oriental medical methods(inspection of the tongue, pulse diagnosis, back diagnosis, abdominal diagnosis, and palpation of Yuan points and data obtained by a questionnaire) and syndromes in the five viscera and on the meridians in 32 patients who visited the Acupuncture Center of our university between October, 1994 and June, 1997. The following results were obtained. (1) Blood stasis observed by inspection of the tongue was in agreement with deficiency-excess imbalance at the pericardium meridian observed using the AMI in 61%. (2) Kidney deficiency syndrome observed by pulse diagnosis was in agreement with deficiency determined using the AMI in 65%. (3) Floating pulse in the kidney observed by palpation of Yuan points was in agreement with the result in the kidney obtained using the AMI in 71%. The diagnosis by oriental medical methods and some of the results of measurement using an AMI showed a high agreement rate. However, further detailed studies are necessary. (author abst.) |
