Abstract;We attempt to control of photosensitization activities of p-terphenyl which works as a photosensitizer for catalytic electron transfer under UV-light irradiation by partially fluorination. Increasing the number of fluorine substitution, absorption spectrum shifted to shorter wavelength and oxidation potential shifted to positive. The activity of p-terphenyls was examined in photooxidation of water to hydroxyl radicals. It was revealed that fluorination enhanced the activity and perfluorinated one had extreme activity.
