Abstract;Enantiomerically pure (S)- and (R)-2-hydroxy-2-(pentafluorophenyl)acetonitriles was obtained by use of lipase-catalyzed kinetic resolution. This compound was carefully transformed (TBDMSOTf, DMAP) into its TBDMS-ether as a new chiral fluorinated building brock without loss of the optical purity, and into naproxen ester for X-ray analysis to determine the absolute configuration. Interestingly, the crystal structure of naproxen ester showed the stacking ability of pentafluorophenyl group with naphthyl group. (author abst.)
