| Abstract;HCFC225s (HCFC225ca: CF3CF2CHCCl2, HCFC225cb: CF2ClCF2CFHCl) are demonstrated to be superior mobile phase carrier solvent for size exclusion chromatography (SEC). HCFC225s have inherent excellent properties such as, low toxicity, high purity, low cost, low Global Warming Potential, and low Ozone Depletion Potential. In addition, solubility of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) gives HCFC225 a distinct advantage over commonly used fluorine containing solvents such as CFC113, perfluoroalkanes, fluorine containing ethers, because calibration curve for SEC measurement can be obtained by using commercial monodispersive PMMA. Successful measurement of average molecular weight and molecular weight distribution of several fluorine containing polymers such as perfluoropolyether, poly(perfluoroalkyl ethyl acrylate), are demonstrated.
