| Abstract;Previously we reported the first detection of the reactive trifluoromethyloxonium salts generated by the photolysis of the 2'-(trifluoromethoxy)biphenyl-2-diazonium salts in CH2Cl2 at low temperature and the satisfactory O- or N-trifluoromethylation of alcohol, phenol and amine by using 2-t-butyl-O-(trifluoromethyl)dibenzofuranium salt. Now we have measured half life of the reactive O-(trifluoromethyl)dibenzofuranium salt at -60 .DEG.C. and clarified the effect of the substituent on the benzene ring and the counter anion for the stability of O-(trifluoromethyl)dibenzofuranium salt.
