| Abstract;Pyrohydrisys of rare-earth fluoride (LnF3) was investigated by means of TG/DTA. The products of pyrohydrisys in air were identifide by means of XRD. When LnF3 are kept at a temperature of approximately 800.DEG.C. in an atmosphere of low humidity, they slowly lost waight. The hydrisys proceeds until the fluoride is completely converted to oxide. On the weight loss process against heating time, there were two definite breaks corresponding to the conversion of LnF3 to LnOF and of LnOF to Ln2O3. It seemd that the beginning temperature of pyrohydrisys tend to decrease with decreasing the ionic size of Ln3+ exept CeF3 and YF3 and that the reaction rates increased. (author abst.) |
