Abstract;OCTS, which is a onboard sensor on ADEOS was specially designed to observe SST accurately and it worked during about 10 months after the launch on August 17, 1996. To show the accuracy of SST by OCTS, cross-calibration was performed based on SST by NOAA/AVHRR. The total of 18 image sets, which was paired by both SST images by OCTS and AVHRR, were prepared for cross-calibration. Match-up pixels in cloud-free area were selected from the image sets by using a cloud screening procedure. The regression result by all match-ups shows 0.89 deg. C as standard error. (author abst.)
