Abstract; We previously reported the efficacy of the MRA(magnetic resonance analyzer) applied to the treatment of alopecia areata. We later obtained new findings in a study on the mechanisms of development of alopecia areata, alopecia presenilis, and female diffuse alopecia, whose incidence has recently been increasing. We presented a report entitled "Alopecia studied from the view point of Oriental medicine" in the Toho Igaku Zasshi, in which we proposed that, based on the concepts of Oriental medicine, it would be more valid to consider perturbation of "qi(functional activities of the body)" and "xue(blood)" to be the cause of both alopecia areata and alpecia presenilis, than to think the mechanisms of development of alopecia areata and alopecia presenilis are different. We examined hair specimens with an MRA to support this hypothesis. (author abst.)
