| Abstract; This paper outlines the undersea tunnel construction which connects the new harbor sixth jetty of Kobe City in Hyogo Prefecture with Port Island, a artificial island. The immersed tunnel method by full sandwich composite structure was adopted for the first time in the world. The conventional immersed tunnel unite consisits of reinforced concrete construction and covers the circumference with the waterproof steel plate, but in the present method the steel shells are partitioned with diaphragms, filled up with high workable concrete and arranged in order to make monolithic concrete so that the conventional reinforcement work became unnecessary. The performance of high workable concrete demands the contradictory properties that are to be of small viscosity as possible and bleeding-proof, then quality control guideline corresponding to ISO 9002 was took and strict quality control was completed. The start schedule of the service is in the summer, 1999. |
