Abstract; The 1948 Fukui earthquake provided the detailed data for damage of buildings and collapse or overturn of simple bodies, such as chimneys, grave stones, etc. The overturning directions of simple bodies and the falling directions of wooden houses seem to have characteristic features of distribution with scatters. From the northern to the central part of the fault trace (strike=170.DEG.C.), the fault normal directions are predominant. On the other hand, from the central to the south but apart from the fault trace, the fault parallel directions are predominant. These distributions are simulated by 3D dynamic rupture model, and the details of the fault rupture processes are suggested. (author abst.)
