Abstract;To examine the influence of the lifestyles of university students on their health-related symptoms (70 items), a total of 2,003 university and college students at two private universities and one college in Hokkaido were surveyed. The students were asked their views of weight, subjective stress levels, regularity of daily life, hobbies, degree of busyness, regularity of meals, satisfaction with daily life and changes in health conditions. (1) Regarding their views of their weight, 38.3% answered that they are "overweight," 45.5% answered "normal" and 16.2% said "underweight." More female students than males said they are "over-weight" (p<0.001). (2) Regarding their subjective stress levels, 14.1% answered "very high," 63.2% said "moderate" and 22.7% said "very low." The percentage of those who said "very high" or "moderate" was higher among female than male students (p<0.001). (3) Concerning the regularity of their daily life, 10.8% said they always follow a "regular daily schedule," 62.9% said their schedule is "sometimes irregular," and 26.3% said they follow an "irregular schedule." Male respondents who said they follow an "irregular schedule" outnumbered their female counterparts (p<0.001). (4) Concerning hobbies, 25.5% answered that they have "numerous hobbies," 62.1% said they have "one or two hobbies," and 12.4% said they have "no real hobbies" to speak of. More males than females said they have "numerous hobbies" (p<0.001). (5) In terms of degree of busyness, 21.4% answered they "always feel busy," 61.1% said they "sometimes feel busy," and 17.5% said they "seldom feel busy."
