| Abstract;Recent progress in application of neutron activation analysis to geochemistry and environmental chemistry is reviewed. Instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA) is one of the most reliable method to determining trace elements in geochemical and environmental samples. Based on the elemental abundance data obtained by INAA, origin and formation processes of rocks and sediments are deduced. In environmental application, INAA has been successfully used to take information on distribution and behavior of hazardous materials in environment. Elucidating fluctuation of environmental condition in past and its relationship to climate change has became an important application of INAA. (author abst.) |
