| Abstract;Laser-induced photoacoustic spectroscopy (LPAS) was applied to simultaneous determination of the optical absorption and scattering cross sections of haematite colloids in aqueous solutions. The fast photoacoustic signals due to light scattering by the colloid particles were distinguished from the delayed signals due to light absorption. Both signal intensities were successfully calculated as a product of the number of particles in a unit volume and the optical absorption or scattering cross section given by the Mie theory.
