Abstract; The photoisomerization study of bis(2-(1-methylpyridinium-4-yl)vinyl)benzene dye in the absence and presence of DNA revealed that the DNA affects photoisomerization quantum yields of the ligands. The DNA-promoted formation of E,E isomer was accounted for the contribution of two factors: (i) the binding differentiation between structurally dissimilar isomer and (ii) the quenching of ligand fluorescence by the DNA.
