Abstract; The synthesis of two kinds of hemes have been carried out in order to mimic the active center of cytochrome P-450cam, in which the hydroxy group of Thr(252) and the thiolate of Cys(357) play very siginificant roles in the reductive O2 activation. The model complexes have hydrophobic cavities on both sides of the hemes. In one cavity, there exist hydroxyl groups. In the other, thiolate groups coordinate axially to the iron atom. Their synthesis and the reaction with various oxidants will be reported. (author abst.)
