Abstract;Novel water soluble porphyrins which have hydrophobic alkyl chains and many carboxyl groups were prepared as a host for amines or amino acid esters. The recognition ability of host molecule was evaluated by binding constants determined by UV-Vis titration experiments. The results indicated that host molecule strongly incorporated the amino acid esters having a hydrophobic side chain and cationic amine such as tryptophan methyl ester and histamine. (author abst.)
