Abstract;Bis-functionalized .BETA.- and .GAMMA.-cyclodextrins with dansyl and tosyl have been synthesized to investigate their sensing ability and binding property for terpenoids and bile acids. Titled compounds exhibit highly sensitive and selective molecular recognition ability for bile acids and (-)-borneol. The guest-induced variations in the fluorescence or ICD intensity suggest that dansyl moiety acts as a hydrophobic cap. (author abst.)
