| Abstract;Dynamics and control of a system which is composed of a string and rigid bodies attached at its end is basically investigated as one of tether systems. Such a system can enlarge its activities by attitude control of the end body. Under the attitude control, tether tension influences much on the end body especially in space, since external forces are very small. In this paper, the shape of the string in the planar motion is described by the finite-element formulation. The string deflection and the motion of the rigid bodies are coupled with nonlinearity through the strain in the string due to inertia force of the rigid bodies. We also attempt to control the attitude of the end body by the reaction wheel. In order to cancel accumulation of angular momentum of it with time, the joint torque control of rigid bodies is used.
