Abstract;This paper first describes the signalling mechanisms of TGF-.BETA. super family including TGF-.BETA., activin, and bone morphogenetic protein(BMP) by focusing on Smad signal transducing factor which transfers the siganls of TGF-.BETA. super family from cell membranes to nuclei. PEBP2/CBF is functioning as a target in the nucleus to bind to TGF-.BETA. supers family. It reveals that signalling pathway-specific Smad binds to PEBP2, and the functional cooperation of Smad3 and .ALPHA.C in mouse germline IgC.ALPHA. promoter is required for IgA class switching. The knowledge on these molecular mechanisms may contribute to elucidate the disease state of IgA nephropathy elevating IgA production level.
