Abstract;A novel filtration procedure with consideration on crystal structure was applied to the signal processing of atomic force microscopy (AFM) data where Fourier transform and its inverse Fourier transform are involved. This procedure enabled obtaining more detailed atomic arrangement images of mineral cleavage planes including mica. Here we report that this procedure made it possible to observe both basement oxygen arrangement plane and potassium arrangement plane in the mica cleavage planes. It was also possible to discriminate muscovite and biotite by this procedure. (author abst.)
