Abstract; The speed up of Shinkansen has been requested from a social economic point of view. Developing a high-speed current collecting system from overhead contact line using pantograph is a subject to speed up of Shinkansen. The overhead contact line of Shinkansen is called heavy-compound contact line, which is constituted with three electric wires such as contact wire, messenger wire, and auxiliary messenger wire. In high-speed driving of 300km/h, current collecting performance of overhead contact line deteriorates by vibration to occur by a pantograph, and the possibility of fatigue rupture of contact wire. Moreover, construction cost of a train line is high. I clarified conditions of overhead contact line necessary for speed up by experiments and computer simulations. I developed composite contact wire (CS: composition of copper and steel, TA: composition of aluminum and steel) and implemented high-speed current collection system of 425km/h running. Using this technology, I developed new contact line of simple overhead line system for Shinkansen. (author abst.)
