Abstract;Dynamic structures formed due to local production of huge negative ions in a plasma are investigated by means of a Q-machine experiment and a one-dimensional electrostatic particle simulation. The plasma becomes unstable for a large rate of negative ion production, being accompanied by a double-layer formation generating solitary pulses with negative potential. The solitary pulses play a role in making negative ions ejected rapidly from the system. Poduced negative ions are found to strongly diffuse across magnetic field lines and a drift wave instability driven by the negative ions is simultaneously observed. (author abst.)
